Compliance Upkeep — motor carrier authority monitoring
By state  ·  13 federal datasets tracked daily

Know the day a carrier's authority changes.

The federal government publishes what a carrier is. We publish what changed: grants, insurance cancellations, and suspension notices with the days left before they bite.

1,405
authority changes recorded per day, last 7 days
5,197
carriers under a suspension notice not yet in effect
1
day until the next one takes effect
872
new operating authorities granted, last 7 days

Figures from the federal feeds captured 01 October 2026.

The thirty-day window

A carrier rarely loses authority without warning. It loses insurance, then a suspension notice is served, then the notice takes effect. Each step is published, but in a different file, under a different date column, with no link between them.

  1. Step 1

    Coverage cancelled

The insurer files a cancellation with FMCSA.
    Already uninsured
  2. Step 2

    Notice served

FMCSA serves a suspension order with a future effective date.
    30 days to act
  3. Step 3

    Authority suspended

The carrier can no longer legally haul.
    Too late

If you sell insurance, step 1 is your lead. If you factor invoices or tender loads, step 2 is your risk alert. Both are visible days or weeks before step 3, which is the only one most people notice.

FMCSA has published almost no new insurance cancellations in the past 30 days (2 nationally in the past seven days). The table shows what was published before that, and fills in again when the data does.

By state

Every state gets its own page, rebuilt each morning: suspension notices with the days left, suspensions in effect and new authorities.

What we found in the source data

The daily feed is incomplete

On the days it covers, the official daily difference feed carried 1,148 of 1,215 authority changes. Nothing flows the other way. It is also a two-day rolling window, so a missed poll loses those events from that source permanently.

We re-read the accumulated history on a trailing window and merge on content-derived identifiers, which closes both gaps.

The dates do not mean what they look like

Insurance cancellation dates run backwards: on 12 September, 81 of 86 were already in the past. A cancellation says a carrier is uninsured now, not soon.

Only the suspension notice is genuinely forward-dated, and it is reliably thirty days. Treating the two alike produces alerts that are wrong in both directions.

Event types

Every typed event carries the carrier, the docket, the date, the federal dataset it came from, and where applicable the date it takes effect.

The API

Two endpoints. Answers carry the evidence, not a score, because the decision is yours and a number you cannot audit is worth nothing in a dispute.
